Adrienne Hamilton
email: AdriennePhaup@yahoo.com

I was raised in Amherst county and then when I got married to my husband who is from NC, moved to Nelson county and have been here 4 years. I went to Sweet Briar College for 3 years but graduated from Lynchburg college with a bachelors of science in biology. I worked as a veterinary technician for 5 years and after I had my son, William Wallace, I have been a stay at home mom and loving it! I’ve raised chickens my whole life and due to the influence of my husband, Bruce, have started gardening. Last year was the first time I had a large garden, before that all I had was raised beds. We don’t use chemicals on our veggies for pests or diseases. The chickens are free range and partially pasture raised. We have brown egg layers and we have some americaunas and olive eggers that will start laying this fall hopefully. William (2years old) helps out with all the chores and gardening and loves it!

Woodson's Mill
https://www.deeprootsmilling.com/the-mill

Deep Roots Milling operates out of historic Woodson’s Mill in Nelson County VA. Woodson’s Mill was originally built in the 1790’s and has been in continual operation throughout the majority of its history. For much of America’s history, mills like Woodson’s dotted the landscape and served vital community roles. However, with the commercialization of the modern food system, these country mills could not compete and most were abandoned and left to fall apart. Woodson’s Mill is one of the last of these gems and we are excited to give it new life.

an heirloom variety of flint corn, originally hailing from South America. Traces of its genetics are found in many commonly grown modern varieties of maize today. While popularly grown in Argentina and Brazil in the late 1800s, a version of it made its way to Cuba in the early 1900s, where it became known as Maiz Argentino or Especial.  Our current crop is grown by Bob McDonald in Bedford county, PA
